HAMILTON TOWN CENTER

NOBLESVILLE, OHIO

Designed for the partnership of Simon Property Group and Gershman Brown Crowley, Hamilton Town Center is a 600,000-square-foot lifestyle center complemented by 150,000 square feet of power retail.

Town center as a fragment of  the Ideal City

With little existing local context to draw from, the design of Hamilton Town Center required an unconventional approach. Instead of attempting to replicate an organically evolved “main street,” the concept embraces its own artificiality and abstraction. It becomes, in effect, a theatrical set—a fragment of an imagined city inserted into the disarray of suburban sprawl. This conceptual foundation made it both appropriate and inspiring to draw from the Renaissance Ideal City— an embodiment of abstract urban perfection.
